Common/Cherry Laurel (Rotundifolia)
£6.95 – £17.95
(Prunus laurocerasus Rotundifolia)
A vigorous, wide spreading, bushy evergreen shrub which can grow to 5m in height. It is used mainly for screening purposes or game cover. It produces small white flowers, followed by cherry like fruits which are harmful if eaten. It does not do well in shallow chalky soil.
Oblong, glossy leaves are twisted around upon themselves, and are pale green beneath. In mid and late spring cup-shaped fragrant white flowers are followed by cherry-like red fruits, ripening to black
All varieties of Common Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) will grow in full sun or deep shade and in most soils except waterlogged or very shallow, chalky soils where they may become very pale (chlorotic). They are all hardy and will tolerate temperatures down to -23°C
