Large deciduous tree with an upright conical habit, growing about 12m or more tall, with silvery-grey bark and 3-5 lobed, deeply dissected, mid-green leaves to 10cm long, silvery beneath, turning red and yellow in autumn. Clusters of tiny reddish flowers are produced in early spring, sometimes followed by green winged seeds
